Soñar Sin Dormir (Dreaming without Sleep): Waking Dreams on
the Streets of Guangzhou, China is a research project reflecting on
the global market, mass production of cheap material goods, its effects on the local and global population, and the artists own experience as westerners in China. The experience and residency culminated in an exhibition, titled Shift, at the Times Museum in Guangzhou.

SONAR SIN DORMIR
Me Fui A Caballo

“Me Fui a Caballo..” Stainless Steel lettering,
LED lights, Microprocessor and Armature.
Me Fui a Caballo--transl. I Went Out On A Horse is the first half of a saying
popular in Latin American countries. The second half is Y Me Vine a Pie--transl.
And I Came Back on Foot. Capitalizing on the view of the Times Museum overlooking Guangzhou, a city of roughly 21 million inhabitants, I imposed this phrase on the city and the unbridled capitalism and progress that teemed below.

Distancia detail of reflection

Distance between You and I (translated) is a hologram that plays with perspective. The viewer looks down in order to look up onto
the miniature landscape built from artificial flowers hung upside down from above. Aquired from one of Guangzho’s many wholesale markets, the flora creates a surreal landscape, that I run across.
